Improving Local Resilience to Floods in the Hunter Region to Address Sustainable  Development Goals (SDG 13)

 

 

The Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) was delighted to invite Associate Professor Ifte Ahmed, the Program Convenor of the postgraduate programs in Disaster Risk and Resilience, University of Newcastle, Australia, to share with us his Highly Commended Inter-disciplinary Research Project: Improving local resilience to floods in the Hunter Region to address Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on 4 July.

The audience gained an understanding of the floods in eastern Australian specifically in the Hunter region related to climate change. The research focused on how local resilience and adaptive capacity for floods can be improved in local disaster risk management to address SDG 13.1 targets.
